How do you find a job in the Netherlands?
We always start with a conversation with you to determine what you want to achieve, what you need to achieve it, and how we can best support you. Then, we'll determine which modules are best suited to your needs. You can take multiple modules simultaneously or one after the other. Below, you'll find an overview of our modules if you're looking to start a career.
Language
If you want to start a study, you must speak the Dutch language. We advise you on the right language support.

On the way to work
Do you want to know what work you can do in the Netherlands and what steps you can take to get there?
Or are you looking for a work-study placement, part-time job, or internship for your studies? The UAF is happy to support you with individual guidance and group training.
We help you with:
- Orientation on the labor market: discover which professions and sectors suit you
- Preparing to find an internship: such as a BBL placement, internship or part-time job that matches your education
Healthcare jobs for refugees
Do you want to work as a doctor in the Netherlands? Then you need a BIG registration to obtain your Dutch medical license. We can help you obtain it.:
- Guidance in assessment procedure
- Support with jargon
- Help with finding an internship or work experience place
If you want to obtain your nursing registration, we can of course also help you!
Refugee scientists
Find academic jobs in the Netherlands. This program is for scientists with a refugee background. If you are a PhD candidate or researcher, please contact us. We offer:
- Help you learn the skills you need to get your PhD
- Guidance in finding a job at an academic level within or outside science.
- Financial support
Mentor
A student or professional helps you during your studies and shares his or her experience and network with you.

When can the UAF help?
Whether the UAF can help you depends on your personal situation.
Preparing to study in the Netherlands
You can apply for support from the UAF if you meet these conditions:
- You have applied for asylum or you have a residence permit based on asylum.
- You want to study at MBO level 3 or 4, HBO or university.
- You have completed at least 10 years of education.
- You started with or you speak Dutch at B1 level.
Don't speak Dutch at B1 level yet and want to learn it online through self-study? Then register with the UAF AcademyTo use the UAF Academy, you need Dutch or English at least at A2 level.
Do you want to study in the Netherlands?
This is possible if you have a minimum command of Dutch at B1 level (also for English-language courses).
Have you already studied and do you want to start working right away?
Often it is necessary that you follow a training or course to practice your profession in the Netherlands. Contact the UAF to discuss what you need.
