How do I prepare for a study?

Do you want to prepare for your studies? There are several organizations and websites that can help you. In the My University Cares Too database you will find various initiatives per educational institution or city. For example, a preparatory year, a Dutch language course and a training to study online.

Enroll in time for a study

Do you comply the admission requirements of your studies? Then you can register. The application deadline for most Bachelor's and Master's programs is 1 May.

The registration deadline for MBO programs is April 1. After 30 April you will no longer be able to register for your study and you will have to wait a year. The application deadlines differ for university Master's programmes. So check carefully what the deadline is.

Trainers

Do you want to register for an MBO study? Then do this at the student administration of your ROC. You need the following documents:

  • An admission ticket
  • A GBA registration (Municipal Basic Administration)
    A GBA registration is the official registration in the municipality where you live. You can also get a GBA registration if you still live in an AZC. For more information, visit the COA website.
  • A residence document
  • A residence document can be a W document that is valid until at least October 1 of the year in which you start your studies.

Lots and decentralized selection

Permission from your municipality

You need permission from your municipality to continue your studies while retaining benefits. This only applies if you are older than 30 years. Discuss your study plan with the municipality.
