Checklist for study starters
Are you starting a study soon? Then you often have to arrange a lot. This checklist will help you do that step by step. If you have to wait with a step, move on to the next step!
April May:
- Enroll in Studielink (deadline 1 May for a maximum of 4 potential studies if the choice has not yet been made)
- Apply for a student grant or LLLK
Pass the state exam (or alternative test at an educational institution) (until 1 September) - Map out the admission requirements of the study(s).
- Part-time study? Ask for help in finding a (BBL) workplace
- Possibly request a UAF mentor or buddy/chat buddy
June July:
- I have received conditional admission from school/university
- I know which admission requirements I still have to meet
- I have arranged an appreciation/translation diploma through IDW
- I passed IELTS/TOEFL (if needed)
I have a laptop (if needed)
After August 1:
- I have arranged the payment of tuition fees
- Travel expenses: if no student finance, then find a solution for travel expenses
- I'm already saving for book money
- Do you already need books or materials? Think second-hand, library and be critical whether you really have to buy everything right now or do you need a book later?
- Final admission from school
- Certificate of registration
After September 1:
- Follow introduction day
- Seek guidance from school itself
- Connect with fellow students
