We are a foundation for refugee students and professionals who have applied for asylum in the Netherlands and would like to study or work. We are happy to help you with this with our years of experience. We work together with various educational institutions, companies and municipalities. How can the UAF support me?

We focus on your question. This gives you the support you need. For example, with your studies, with finding a job that suits your talents and financially.

What can the UAF support me with financially?

We help you to apply for money from the government, for example student grants of lifelong learning credit. In addition, we supplement where necessary for costs you incur for your professional development. For example, tuition fees, language courses, books, computers and travel expenses. The costs required for your professional development are paid by the UAF for you. Depending on the conditions, the UAF reimburses this, or you can pay for it yourself with a UAF Student Credit. Whether you will be reimbursed for costs depends on your personal situation.

How does the registration procedure go?

After we have contacted you, you will receive an email with a link and a code to complete an application form. You will receive a response from us by e-mail within two weeks after you have completed and submitted your registration form.

Can you process your application for support? Then you will have access to the client portal MyUAF. Via MijnUAF you will be invited for an intake and process interview. During this conversation we assess whether we can support you. We also look at the next steps within or outside the UAF. Sometimes you may first have to make an assessment to gain insight into your talents and characteristics. Together we will see which support suits you best.

I want to apply for support again. How does that work?

Have you been a client of the UAF before and would you like to request support again? Then contact your UAF learning path counselor. Can you still enter MyUAF? Then send a message to your counselor. Does this no longer work? Then fill in the below contact form. .

About our support

After your registration we always have a conversation with you first to determine what you want to achieve, what you need for that and whether we can support you. Then we look at how we are going to achieve that. With modules we offer exactly the support you need.

You can do several modules at the same time or one after the other. Are you done with a module? Then together we will see if you still need our support. During your trajectory at the UAF, you give substance to your plan and take the necessary steps. You keep in touch with your learning path counselor about your progress.

Can the UAF help me?

Whether the UAF can help you depends on your personal situation.

In any case, you must meet the following conditions:

You have an asylum background*

You want to study at MBO level 3 or 4, HBO or university

You have completed at least 11 years of education
You speak English or Dutch at an intermediate level (B1 or higher)

* You have a Dutch residence permit based on asylum or you have applied for asylum and this procedure is still ongoing.

Do you meet these requirements? Then contact us. When asking what the UAF can do for you, your level of Dutch is important.

To be able to study and work in the Netherlands, you need at least language level B1.

Do you not yet have a B1 Dutch language level?

If you integrate via the Education Route or the B1 route, you will receive Dutch language lessons via your municipality. Discuss the possibilities with your municipality. Are you unable to find a solution? Then the UAF can help you advise you.

Are you not yet integrating? Then we will first support you in learning the language. This is necessary to be able to study and work. We will support you in learning the Dutch language up to B1 level via our UAF Academy, an online learning platform (e-learning).

When can you register for the UAF Academy?

For the UAF Academy you must meet the following conditions:

You have completed at least 11 years of education
You speak English or Dutch at an average level, so that you can easily follow the e-learning courses at the UAF Academy

You have applied for asylum and

- Your asylum procedure is still ongoing
  OF

- You have been granted an asylum residence permit but you do not yet have your own home

Are you a Ukrainian refugee under the Temporary Protection Directive and do you have an O-document or sticker? You can also register for the UAF Academy.
