Petition has now been signed by 15.000 people

The petition of The UAF Foundation for Refugee Students has now been 15.000 people signed. In petition callen we the government on not to keep refugees waiting, but to utilize their talents.

In asylum reception centres, refugee students, professionals and scientists are waiting endlessly. While the Netherlands is rapidly ageing and the labour market is already crying out for staff. Think of the shortages in technology, ICT and healthcare. It takes refugee doctors and nurses years to get back to work. 'A shame, because refugees can and want to be part of the solution', says Mirjam Huisman, director-manager of the UAF.

Call to the government

Refugees can become meaningful in our society much faster. To achieve this, the government must improve the opportunities for studying and working, both during asylum reception and afterwards. Huisman: 'By collecting as many signatures as possible, we want to send a strong signal in The Hague that talent is being unnecessarily lost due to current policy.'

This is what the UAF does

For over 75 years, the UAF has given refugee students, professionals and scientists the opportunity to develop and to fully utilise their talents and ambitions. This is good for them and good for Dutch society as a whole. Every year, the UAF supports over 3.200 refugees.
