Learning and working in health care: orientation year for higher vocational education in Nursing

Refugee gets support towards nursing education

Are you or do you know someone with a refugee background who wants to work in healthcare? An orientation year for the HBO Nursing course will start in Amsterdam in October. This is an initiative of the UAF and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. In July and August we organize online information meetings. The registration for this is open!

The orientation year for the HBO Nursing program (hereinafter: HBO-V) is a unique opportunity. Participants receive intensive language lessons with special attention to medical Dutch. They improve their study skills that are needed at the university of applied sciences. With internships, the participants gain work experience and orientate themselves on the healthcare sector.

How did this project come about?

Two years ago, the UAF presented the idea to healthcare employers (who responded enthusiastically). We worked out the idea with the Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA).

Who does what?

The UAF and the AUAS recruit candidates and organize online information meetings together in the summer. During an application procedure in September, we select the best candidates. The program will start at the AUAS in October. The UAF then remains involved in the background and monitors the results. We are also looking for financiers who want to help make the training process possible.

You can help the UAF in many ways

Thanks to the involvement and support of 27.000 donors, we can guide thousands of refugees every year with study and work. Will you also help?
