Over the past year, many volunteers have signed up as mentors for refugee students and professionals. Thanks for this! Due to the many registrations, there is a temporary stop for new mentors (with the exception of medical mentors). As soon as registration is open again, we will let you know via our website and social media channels.

Medical Mentors

We cordially invite mentors with a medical background to register to guide a refugee healthcare professional during the medical assessment procedure and/or to guide them in the workplace before or after passing the BI test. Why become a mentor?

Mentoring by volunteers is often a valuable addition to the professional guidance that the UAF offers. As a mentor you are a sounding board, a good acquaintance to whom a student or professional can go with questions. For example, about the education system, preparing a study assignment or manners in the workplace.

What does it mean?

The starting point is the need of the mind (student or professional). Together you determine how you will complete the process. You work with each other together on the basis of equality.

As a mentor help a refugee student or professional on their way:

With learning the language
During a study
At the start of his or her career

Your guidance is in addition to the programs followed by a refugee student or professional. You therefore have a different role than the employer, the language institute or a teacher.

What do we expect from a mentor?

Je hebt at least two years experience studying or working in the Netherlands. If you are using a medical profession exercises with a BIG registration, then you can also become a mentor. Please even.

You make contact easily
You are interested in other cultures
You speak Dutch very well
You are available to you for at least four hours a month mind
